Witherscape, the Progressive Death Metal outfit consisting of Swedish singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Dan Swanö (ex Edge Of Sanity / Bloodbath, Nightingale, etc.) as well as fellow Swedish multi-instrumentalist Ragnar Widerberg, have announced the worldwide release of their sophomore full-length album “The Northern Sanctuary” for July 22nd, 2016 via Century Media Records. Following up on the refreshing impact of 2013’s much acclaimed debut album “The Inheritance” (“Album of the month” by Germany’s Rock Hard magazine and position #97 in the official German sales charts) and 2014’s complimentary “The New Tomorrow” EP, “The Northern Sanctuary” is yet another mesmerizingly dense conceptual album, enhanced by breathtakingly powerful artwork courtesy of Hungarian artist Gyula Havancsák / www.hjules.com (Nightingale, Destruction, Tyr, etc.), which can be seen above. Once more lyrically supported by Paul Kuhr (Novembers Doom), Witherscape continue the storyline launched with the debut album, as Swanö explains: “The theme picks up where we left off with the "The New Tomorrow" EP. There is a 50 year jump in the time line from the 1st album and the main character "Mannen i vitt" (The man in white) has purchased the house where all the horror initially happened. He's restored it and rents out rooms to people from the big cities, who are aiming for some peaceful northern Swedish silence. But the entity still haunts the house and "Mannen i vitt" is possessed by it, so consequently he / it does terrible things to the "patients". Since the house is built on one of the gates to hell, there's a ritual taking place, opening the hellish dimension from where the evil entity once came, so it can go back there…” Musically, “The Northern Sanctuary” manages to seamlessly blend the best elements of the band’s 70’s / 80’s Prog / Hard Rock and even AOR roots with contemporary, yet always atmospheric and subtle Extreme Metal. Its infectious catchiness will doubtlessly appeal to the passionate followers of Swanö’s diverse artistic catalogue, but also to fans of bands like Opeth, Amorphis or Symphony X. Look out for further album details and first song samples for “The Northern Sanctuary” to be revealed soon… www.facebook.com/witherscape http://www.facebook.com/centurymedia "Priests of Annihilation", the forthcoming coming debut album from South Carolina Progressive Black Metal Unit Enthean, is now streaming exclusively at Metal Injection. Put simply, Enthean has created a fierce and dynamic album that will excite a wide range of metal fans. Facebook.com/Enthean Music For Nations have announced the release of Swedish progressive titans Opeth’s critically acclaimed live album, ‘Lamentations’. Originally released as a DVD the album will be available for the first time ever on triple heavy weight 180 gram vinyl. Set for release on 22nd July 2016 and with new album art by long-time visual collaborator Travis Smith, ‘Lamentations’ will make a great addition to any Opeth fan’s collection. Label manager Joel De’ath comments ‘ "Those who were at this Opeth show saw the band emerging from their chrysalis to become the force we know today. It's a pivotal moment in their career and it's been a pleasure to immortalize the recordings onto vinyl.’" ‘Lamentations’ features a live performance of Opeth’s Damnation album in full, interspersed with songs from the band’s masterpieces Blackwater Park and Deliverance. Conceived and recorded alongside Deliverence, Damnation marked a radical shift in style and tone. The band took the opportunity to move away from their earlier death metal sound and towards a style reminiscent of 1970's progressive rock, taking inspiration from their Blackwater Park collaborator and producer Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree). ‘Lamentations’ was recorded live at the prestigious Shepherd’s Bush Empire venue, shortly after both albums were released. Having celebrated their 25th anniversary as a band last year, alongside re-issuing Deliverance & Damnation, Opeth are returning to the live circuit in 2016. The band will be making appearances at an extensive series of European festivals, as well as returning for a headline performance at Wembley Arena on 19th November 2016. I could hardly be more proud of this ambitious composition. The theme of a long forgotten library makes a story of beauty and fascination. We spent two months writing songs that are not only representative of the Periphery sound but also reflect where all of us are as musicians, working together has helped us tread new ground musically and creatively. In support of ‘Periphery III’ you’ll see us hit the road in the States this summer with SikTh, Chon, and Toothgrinder on the Sonic Unrest tour, it’s going to be a blast! See you on the road!” Ahead of the release of 'Periphery III: Select Difficulty', the band will head over to the UK to play the prestigious Download Festival on June 12. Periphery’s own Adam “Nolly” Getgood oversaw production for the album as he did with the “Juggernaut” releases. Nolly will no longer be a touring member of Periphery, as he will be expanding his production work in his native UK. He remains an integral part, and a member, of Periphery. At this time no decision has been made about a touring bassist. “Touring with Periphery has shown me some of the most incredible experiences I could ever have imagined, to meet amazing people all over the world and to create friendships for life; it has truly been an honour to perform in front of every audience who has watched us play over the years. However the touring life isn’t something that everyone can continue doing indefinitely, and for me, the time has come where I want to settle into a more normal existence, be able to make plans further into the future than the touring life enables, and to be able to focus more on the studio side of my music career,” explained Nolly. “I will, however, be remaining as a band member and contributing in any way that I can while the band is off the road; I love all of my fellow bandmates like brothers and I’m so grateful for the incredible support they’ve shown as I make this huge life change. I know they are going to be taking the music and performances to the next level when they hit the road later this year.” The band will host a four-day, immersive summer camp dubbed the “Periphery Summer Jam” on July 25 to 29 at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, New York. Registration and further information can be found here: www.peripherysummerjam.com. Emptiness (Radio Edit) Emphasis is a female fronted progressive metal act from Estonia formed in 2010 by bassist Katya Gritskova and guitarist Pavel Korotaev. Emphasis' music is a synthesis of powerful classical harmonies, expressive heavy guitar riffs, unique rhythmic traditions, delicate melodic sequences and powerful operatic vocals from their amazing front woman Anna Ganina. Five-track EP "Into Infinity" was released in November 2012 and premiered via Estonian rock radio station “Radio Mania”. Debut mini-album received positive reviews from all over Europe, USA, Latin America and Russia. Their first mini-tour in support of "Into Infinity" took place in the Baltic States. A year later Emphasis became a member of showcase festival 'Tallinn Music Week' and 'Hard Rock Laager Open Air', the most largest musical events in their homeland Estonia. In Autumn 2013 the amazing opera singer Anna Ganina joined the band. With her arrival, the style of Emphasis became more symphonic. In September 2013 they released their second single “Hopeless”. A few months later they included it in the worldwide compilation “Ladies First” (Label “Metal Del Mundo”, Germany) and the renewed band went back on the road across the Baltic States and Finland together with Finnish Dark Metal formation Teardown. In April 2014 Emphasis released one more single with the new line-up called “On the Wings of Freedom”, played by different Baltic radio stations. The band played dozens of shows in the Baltic states and Finland, sharing the stage with Testament, Skyforger, Arkona and many others. In 2015 the band signed a contract for their debut full-length album release with Italian label Underground Symphony. “Revival” consists of 8 songs and one bonus track and it is a masterpiece for fans of Within Temptation, Nightwish and Opeth. The album will be available on April 15 in deluxe digipak edition through Underground Symphony Records. Emphasis comments: "We can proudly say that our album was completely made in Estonia.
